The Speech Biosignal Processing Lab investigates auditory processing and speech production (across the respiratory, laryngeal, and articulatory subsystems) in typical speakers and those with speech disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s disease).
The lab employs interdisciplinary methods from engineering, hearing science, and speech, including:
- acoustic signal processing
- kinematic analysis of the tongue and lip movements during speech
- auditory perturbation to study speech perception and production
